Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is finally near to breaking even at the global box office, which was made really hard by its extensive production budget which ran up to nearly $300 million and as of now, they have only made $302 million, recuperating its production budget. The legacy sequel directed by James Mangold, once again stars the most iconic Hollywood actor Harrison Ford as one of the most iconic characters ever Indiana Jones.
Dial of Destiny is funnily enough the second legacy sequel in this franchise, and aside from Tom Cruise‘s Top Gun: Maverick those kind of sequel doesn’t really do well at the box office. This is the case for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, as it is finding it really hard to turn a profit at the box office. Because of its massive budget the film, and even recuperating its production budget the fifth Indy film might still go down as a flop, because the production budget doesn’t really include the marketing budget, which has to be massive.
Dial of Destiny has had a rough go of it, even in its early production stages. When the film first started gaining traction, it had a troubled writing process, and when it comes to direction, the original director of the franchise himself Steven Spielberg was initially attached to the project as a director. But due to scheduling, he had to part ways which led to the hiring of James Mangold. After all of these, the biggest hurdle was yet to come as the whole world shut down because of the pandemic. Dial of Destiny was still under production but because they were shooting during the pandemic they had to adapt to COVID safety measures which lead to even more production budgets.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is still playing in theaters. So, go see it because currently there is no release date for its digital and streaming release.
