The Batman spin-off series revolving around the iconic Arkham Asylum has finally found a new showrunner to run the ship. According to Variety, filmmaker Antonis Campos has been selected as the showrunner for the upcoming The Batman spin-off series.
The report from Variety, also included that Campos will also direct and serve as an executive producer on the series when it starts production. While it is good news that Campos is finally on board the project, it is also true that he is now the third writer that has been attached to this DC project.
The DC series was announced back in July 2020 and since then the series has morphed into a show from being about the inner workings of the Gotham City Police Department to a series based on Arkham Asylum. In the beginning, the series was supposed to be written by Terence Winter and Joe Barton, but Winter left the series over creative differences and Barton also quit the series not long after that.
Recently Campos wrote and directed the HBO Max original series The Staircase. This indicates that this time the partnership might stick as the showrunner already has a history with HBO Max.
The spinoff series will be produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.
