The prettiest plastic doll is proving to be a big money maker for Warner Bros. and Mattel. Directed by Greta Gerwig, the adaptation was released over a week ago and in this short amount of time, the film has already crossed the $500 million mark at the global box office.

As of Wednesday, Barbie has made $526.8 million including its massive earnings of $291.4 from the overseas markets. Barbie seems to be impressing the audience worldwide as it has already made $40.2 million in the UK, $25.2 million in Brazil, $18.9 million in Australia, and $15.9 million in China. With its second-week projected earnings of over $70 million domestically, Barbie’s future seems to be brighter than ever.

Barbie’s great performance in comparison to Oppenheimer has many reasons. The first one is that it has opened in more theaters than the biopic drama with Barbie opening in 4,243 theaters and Oppenheimer opening in 3,610 theaters. Than Barbie is over an hour shorter than Oppenheimer, which means that it will have more screenings in a day and at last Barbie is just a fun viewing, while Oppenheimer emotionally exhausts the audience, and because of its themes and brilliant imagery, it even manages to haunt the audience even after they have finished watching the flick.

Gerwig’s Barbie also has one of the most stacked casts of any film coming out in 2023. Margot Robbie leads the brilliant ensemble cast as Barbie, which includes Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Emma Mackey, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Emerald Fennell, Ncuti Gatwa, and many more.

Barbie is currently playing exclusively in theaters. So, Book Your Tickets to Barbie now.
