Beetlejuice (August 1)

Beetlejuice is a fantasy comedy horror movie directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay co-written by Michael McDowell and Warren Skaaren. The 1988 film follows the story of a ghost married couple Barbara and Adam, who lead a peaceful life but when their house gets sold to new people, they call on the Beetlejuice to drive them out of their house. Beetlejuice stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Jones, Catherin O’Hara, Glenn Shadix, Sylvia Sidney, Maree Cheatham, Dick Cavett, and Hugo Stanger.

Sherlock Holmes (August 1)

Sherlock Holmes is a period mystery action thriller movie directed by Guy Ritchie from a screenplay co-written by Michael Robert Johnson, Anthony Peckham, and Simon Kinberg. Based on the characters created by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the 2009 film is set in 1890 in London and it follows the story of private detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner Dr. John Watson, who are shocked to find out that a serial killer that they themselves sent to the gallows is still out there killing people. Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in the lead role with Mark Strong, Rachel McAdams, Kelly Reilly, Eddie Marsan, Hans Matheson, Geraldine James, James Fox, William Hope, Robert Maillet, and William Houston starring in supporting roles.

How to Train Your Dragon (August 1)

How to Train Your Dragon is an animated fantasy adventure film directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois from a screenplay co-written by Will Davies, DeBlois, and Sanders. Based on a series of children’s books of the same name by author Cressida Cowell, the 2010 film is set in the worlds of Vikings, whose great enemies are the dragons and it follows the story of Hiccup, a Viking who befriends a dragon instead of killing it. How to Train Your Dragon’s voice cast includes Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Craig Ferguson, T.J. Miller, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, David Tennant, and Kieron Elliott.

Pretty Woman (August 1)

Pretty Woman is a romantic comedy film directed by Garry Marshall from a screenplay by J.F. Lawton. The 1990 film follows the story of Edward, a rich entrepreneur who hires a prostitute, Vivian to join him to a few social events but both of them end up falling in love with each other. Now, they must try to understand each other’s vastly different worlds. Pretty Woman stars Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in the lead roles with Laura San Giacomo, Héctor Elizondo, Jason Alexander, Ralph Bellamy, Amy Yasbeck, Elinor Donahue, Judith Baldwin, and Dey Young starring in supporting roles.

Industry Season 3 (August 11)

The brilliant drama series Industry returns for its highly anticipated Season 3 this August. Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the upcoming season will see Pierpoint going all into ethical investing by taking a big bet on Lumi, a green tech energy company, but a bunch of financial and relationship drama tests the bonds between our characters. Industry Season 3 stars Marisa Abela, Harry Lawtey, Ken Leung, Myha’la, Sarah Goldberg, and Kit Harington.

Rick and Morty: The Anime Season 1 (August 16)

Rick and Morty: The Anime is an adult anime dark comedy series created by Takashi Sano. Based on the animated series of the same name created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the Adult Swim series follows the story of the mad scientist and samurai Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith as they go on several deadly adventures together.

City of God: The Fight Rages On Season 1 (August 25)

City of God: The Fight Rages On is a Brazilian crime drama series directed by Aly Muritiba. Based on the 1997 semi-autobiographical novel by author Paulo Lins, the Max series serves as a follow-up to the 2002 film City of God by directors Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund and it is set two decades later after the events of the film and follows the story of Wilson “Rocket” Rodrigues, who achieved his dream of becoming a photojournalist as he returns to the Favela to document the conflicts between drug dealers, police, militiamen, and politicians and how it affects the residents.
