Netflix is all set for an entertainment-packed August this year. As we have already told you about all the entertaining AMC shows coming to Netflix in August, but there is more because Netflix being Netflix, makes a ton of original content and some of that is coming out this month. From the final season of Netflix’s hit superhero series The Umbrella Academy to a series that is being described as a “darkly comedic and contemporary reimagining of Greek gods” starring Jeff Goldblum. So, we also picked out the 10 best Netflix originals that will be coming out on Netflix this August.
Unstable Season 2 (August 1)
Unstable returns for more mayhem, more parental drama, more hilarious antics, and even more father-son bonding in its second season. Created by Rob Lowe, John Owen Lowe, and Victor Fresco, the Netflix workplace comedy series will see Jackson trying to prepare for an eventual takeover of his father’s company, but with an overbearing father like Ellis, it won’t be an easy task. A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder is a British teen mystery comedy thriller series created by Poppy Cogan. Based on the young adult novel of the same name by author Holly Jackson, the BBC series follows the story of Pip Fitz-Amobi, a high school senior as she digs into a murder case that happened five years ago for her EPQ. Based on the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants by creator Stephen Hillenburg, the Netflix film follows the story of Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob SquarePants as they travel to Texas to save Bikini Bottom and all of its inhabitants from a nefarious plot. The Umbrella Academy Season 4 (August 8)
The Umbrella Academy is finally returning for its highly anticipated fourth and final season. Created by Steve Blackman, the Netflix superhero dark comedy-drama series is based on the comic book series of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá and the upcoming final season of the series will once again revolve around the Hargreeves siblings as they come to terms with having no superpowers in the weird but normal timeline they are in. The Umbrella Academy stars Aidan Gallagher, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan, Ritu Arya, Elliot Page, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Justin H. Min, Colm Feore, and Nick Offerman.
Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 1 (August 15)
Emily in Paris is returning for a highly anticipated Season 4 this month on Netflix. Created by Darren Star, the romantic comedy-drama series continues the story of Emily as she still can’t choose between one of the two men she has strong feelings for. In this new season, there is more drama, more romance, and so much more glamor. The latest season of the Netflix series has been divided into two parts, with the first part coming out this month and the next part coming to Netflix on September 12, 2024. The Union (August 16)
The Union is a spy action and comedy thriller film directed by Julian Farino from a screenplay co-written by Joe Barton and David Guggenheim. The Netflix film follows the story of Mike, a down-to-earth construction worker in Jersey as he gets roped into the deadly world of international espionage by his ex-girlfriend, who he still has some feelings for. The Union stars Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry in the lead roles with Mike Colter, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jessica De Gouw, Alice Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, and J.K. Incoming (August 23)
Incoming is a teen comedy film written and directed by Dave and John Chernin. The Netflix film follows the story of four teenagers as they enter the chaotic world of high school and get invited to their first-ever high school party. Incoming stars Mason Thomas, Raphael Alejandro, Bardia Seiri, Ramon Reed, Bobby Cannavale, Kaitlin Olson, Isabella Ferreira, Thomas Barbusca, Ali Gallo, Loren Gray, and Scott MacArthur.
Kaos Season 1 (August 29)
Kaos is a mythological dark comedy-drama series created by Charlie Covell. The upcoming Netflix series shows us a darkly comedic and contemporary reimagining of the Greek gods and it follows the story of three ordinary humans as they find a connection to each other and also to a long standing ancient prophecy while the arrogant gods continue to oppress humans. Kaos stars Jeff Goldblum, Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, Killian Scott, Debi Mazar, Aurora Perrineau, Misia Butler, Leila Farzad, Nabhaan Rizwan, Eddie Izzard, and Rakie Ayola.
Terminator Zero Season 1 (August 29)
Terminator Zero is a sci-fi action anime series created by Mattson Tomlin. Based on the film franchise Terminator by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd, the upcoming Netflix anime series is set in the Terminator Universe in 1997 and it follows the story of Malcolm Lee in Japan as he develops an AI system that could compete with Skynet. Soon he finds himself and his children being pursued by robot assassins but a mysterious soldier from the year 2022 appears to protect him. Terminator Zero’s voice cast includes Timothy Olyphant, André Holland, Sonoya Mizuno, Rosario Dawson, and Ann Dowd.
The Deliverance (August 30)
The Deliverance is a supernatural horror thriller film directed by Lee Daniels from a screenplay co-written by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum. Based on a true story, the upcoming Netflix film follows the story of Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother as she moves into a new house. Some strange occurrences in the new house threaten to tear the family apart and soon Ebony finds herself fighting for her life and the souls of her children. The Deliverance stars Andra Day in the lead role with Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Mo’Nique, Caleb McLaughlin, Demi Singleton, Anthony B.
