The much-anticipated Lanterns series from James Gunn‘s DC Studios has officially begun production, and if that news wasn’t good enough, we also got a simple but awesome first look at our two main protagonists, Hal Jordan, and John Stewart, played respectively by Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre.
The upcoming series is said to be a grounded detective drama series that will explore the darker sides of the DC Universe. In the series, we will see a veteran, Hal Jordan, teaming up with John Stewart, who’s a bit of a newcomer to the Green Lantern Corps, to solve a seemingly ordinary murder case that turns into a massive threat as the story progresses.
In the first image, we see both Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Pierre’s John Stewart on a long road, both looking a bit ruffled, Jordan more than Stewart. We can also see the Power Ring on Jordan’s fingers, but it’s not visible on Stewart’s hands.
Created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, Lanterns also stars Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, Kelly McDonald as Sheriff Kerry, Garret Dillahunt as William Macon, and Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe.
While there is no concrete information on when the eight-episode first season will come out, it is speculated that the superhero series could premiere sometime in Spring 2026.
