Denis Villeneuve‘s film adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s landmark sci-fi novel Dune, which is one of the biggest hit movies this year. So, Deadline has brought another great news for Dune fans after the renewal of Part Two of Dune, and the news is that Dune: Part One is coming to IMAX theaters for a limited time this December, which will allow the fans to see the film, who weren’t able to see it when the film was released.
Even though Dune was released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously, Dune earned more than $300 million on the international box office in less than three weeks, and after Thanksgiving weekend, the epic sci-fi film is expected to cross $100 million in the U.S., which will bring the total box office earning of Dune close to $500 million internationally.
Dune’s box office success was one of the biggest reasons that Warner Bros. greenlit Dune: Part Two, which will continue the story and pick up the story where the first movie left off and adapt the second part of the sci-fi novel. Dune: Part Two will begin production in July 2022, which will give a little more than a year to Villeneuve to finish the film for its October 2023 release.
Dune star-studded cast also includes Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Oscar Isaac as Leto Atreides I, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, and Stellan Skarsgard as Vladimir Harkonnen.
Dune is currently available in theaters and it will be coming back to IMAX on December 3. There’s still no announcement on how long the film will be available on IMAX.
