Chris Hemsworth is returning as the Australian black-ops mercenary Tyler Rake in the sequel to the 2020 film Extraction. The sequel will be directed by Sam Hargrave, who also directed the first film, and Joe and Anthony Russo are also attached to the project as producers. The teaser for Extraction 2 was revealed during Netflix’s global fan event TUDUM.
Extraction was based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, León González, Eric Skillman, Joe, and Anthony Russo. The script for the first film was written by Joe Russo and it followed Rake as he went on a mission to rescue an Indian drug lord’s son, but many complications came along the way with the film ending on a very complicated and heartbreaking note.
Extraction became one of the most-watched original Netflix films on the streaming giant since its release in April 2020 with 99 million households watching the film in it first four weeks of release.
There is no release date announced for the upcoming sequel, but according to Netflix, it is coming soon. Check out the teaser for Extraction 2 below:
