Mike Flanagan is back at it again and now with a new Netflix horror series based on Edgar Allan Poe’s works called The Fall of the House of Usher. The Netflix series will be the fifth collaboration between Netflix and Flanagan.
The horror series was announced last year, and the title of the series comes from a short story, which was written by Poe, and while the name of the series is derived from only one short story the series will be based on multiple works of Poe. The Fall of the House of Usher is reportedly a miniseries, and will not expand its story into multiple seasons. The Fall of the House of Usher is not the first time Flanagan is making a series based on a novel, because his past work including The Haunting of Hill House was based on a novel of the same name written by Shirley Jackson, and The Haunting of Bly Manor was loosely based on The Turn of the Screw written by Henry James. Flanagan’s recent Netflix series The Midnight Club is also based on a book of the same name written by Christopher Pike.
The Fall of the House of Usher – Production?
It was announced last year that the filming of the upcoming series will begin in Vancouver, Canada on January 24, 2022. The filming was supposed to only take place for four months ending the filming on May 25, 2022. The confirmation that filming on the series has started came from Kate Siegel in January as she posted a photo from the set. The photo shared by Siegel also revealed a new logo for the series. But later Flanagan said that the cast was in Canada, but the filming still hadn’t begun yet.
Filming on the series actually began on January 31 and it eventually wrapped up on July 9, 2022.

The logline revealed by Netflix for the upcoming series tells us about what we can expect from Flanagan’s upcoming venture:

The Fall of the House of Usher is narrated by a man who has been invited to visit his childhood friend Roderick Usher. When she reappears in her blood-stained shroud, the visitor rushes to leave as the entire house splits and sinks into a lake.”
