Frasier has finally moved back to the place where he first saw him. Now, with a grown-up firefighter son and many new and old characters. If you were a fan of the Frasier reboot then you might already know that Paramount+ has renewed the comedy series for Season 2. While you wait for the beloved comedy series to return we thought of informing you what the original cast has been up to since the original spin-off series ended.

Neuwirth’s Lilith was one of the favorites in the original Frasier series and after her return in the reboot, the fans want more of her. The actress who played the role of the ex-wife of our neurotic Frasier Crane has had numerous memorable roles since the original series including in Max’s Julia, the political drama Madam Secretary, and the popular legal drama series The Good Fight.

Peri Gilpin

Gilpin played the role of Roz Doyle in the original Frasier series. Roz worked as the producer on Frasier Crane’s radio show and she was among the principal cast of the Cheers spin-off series. Doyle had a dry sense of humor and she never shied away from telling Frasier when he was wrong or just being too neurotic. Since Fraiser ended its run in 2004, Gilpin has been working on and off in the industry with great shows like Desperate Housewives and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She also made a cameo appearance in the first season of the Frasier reboot.

Jane Leeves

Leeves played the role of the lovable housekeeper and medical aide Daphne Moon. She is one of the women who had to deal with the Crane men daily and still managed to not kill even one of them. Daphne starts as a medical aide to Frasier’s father and ends up falling in love with Frasier’s brother Niles. We would all love to see Leeves returning to the role of Daphne in the reboot but she was missing from the first season and as she said when asked about a Frasier reboot in her Entertainment Weekly interview in 2021, “I have no idea, but I won’t be leaving The Resident to do that if it happens. There’s a lot of pieces that have to come together to make [the revival] happen.” Leeves had joined Fox’s medical drama The Resident in 2018, which was canceled in 2023 leaving Leeves open to return, but the question is, will she?

John Mahoney

The late and great Mahoney played the role of Frasier and Niles’ father Martin Crane. An army veteran and a retired police detective who moves in with Frasier in his old age. Martin and Frasier’s different way of living and seeing life was the place where most of the original series’ comedy came from.

Sadly, Mahoney died from throat cancer in 2018, but he will be remembered as one of the most celebrated actors who won the hearts and minds of millions of people through his art. After the original series ended, Mahoney appeared in Rob Reiner’s romantic comedy-drama Flipped, which was Mahoney’s last film.

David Hyde Pierce

Imagine a more neurotic Frasier Crane and then put him in an unhappy marriage, if you have a picture of Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane in your mind then I won’t blame you. Niles is Frasier’s brother played to perfection by Hyde Pierce. He was one of the most loved characters in the whole series and the disappointment of not seeing him in the reboot is incomparable. After the original series ended Hyde Pierce continued to work on his craft even returning to the stage with several Broadway productions and he also appeared in Max’s Julia with his Frasier co-star Bebe Neuwirth. Let’s hope that all the stars align and we see him once again in his most iconic role yet in Paramount+ Frasier Season 2.

Kelsey Grammer

If Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool and Hugh Jackman was born to play Wolverine, then Kelsey Grammer was born to play the role of the annoying but lovable Frasier Crane. After debuting in Cheers Season 3 Episode 1 as Frasier Crane, the psychiatrist became a regular customer at the bar even though he was only supposed to be in Cheers for a couple of episodes. The producers were so impressed with Grammer’s portrayal of Frasier, that they expanded his role into a series regular.

After Cheers ended in 1993, Frasier moved to Seattle after a divorce, where he lived with his father and worked as a radio psychiatrist. Frasier ended its successful run in 2004 after 11 great seasons, Grammer appeared in multiple projects including Modern Family and X-Men: The Last Stand, but what he didn’t know was that one day in the age of streaming service he would return as Frasier Crane once again to entertain and educate us on how not to embarrass ourselves.
