2024 is almost over, and while it was a pretty good year for Netflix and its subscribers because of all the marvelous content we got. In my opinion, it is nothing compared to what Netflix has in store for us for 2025, as some of the most highly-anticipated Netflix original shows will be returning to streaming and, in some cases, for one last time. So, let’s find out which of your favourite Netflix original shows or some incredible new shows are coming to Netflix in 2025.
American Primeval (January 9)
American Primeval is an upcoming Western drama series created by Mark L. Smith. The Netflix series is set in the American West in 1857, and it revolves around the brutal conflict that people engaged in to survive and protect their land. American Primeval stars Saura Lightfoot Leon, Taylor Kitsch, Jai Courtney, Shea Whigham, Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, Kyle Bradley Davis, Preston Mota, and Nick Hargrove.
The Night Agent Season 2 (January 23)
Get ready for even more life-threatening conspiracies, brutal action sequences, and nail-biting drama in the much anticipated Season 2 of The Night Agent. Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, the conspiracy action thriller drama series was created by Shawn Ryan. Season 2 will see Peter Sutherland officially working as a Night Agent as he finds himself in a dangerous new world with no trustworthy people to help him. The Night Agent Season 2 will see the return of the leading duo of Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan. Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Michael Malarkey, and Keon Alexander are joining the cast in Season 2 of The Night Agent.
The Recruit Season 2 (January 30)
Noah Centineo is back as the daredevil CIA Lawyer Owen Hendricks in the much anticipated Season 2 of The Recruit. Created by Alexi Hawley, Season 2 of the spy adventure comedy-drama series will Owen getting embroiled in a life-threatening situation in South Korea, but what he doesn’t know is that the real threat is coming from inside the offices of the CIA. The Recruit Season 2 brings back almost all of the core cast from Season 1 with a few additions, which are Teo Yoo, James Purefoy, Brooke Smith, Devika Bhise, Felix Solis, Young-Ah Kim, Do Hyun Shin, Sanghee Lee, and Omar Maskati.
Zero Day (February 20)
Zero Day is an upcoming political conspiracy thriller limited series created by Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Michael Schmidt. The Netflix series follows former United States President George Mullen as he leads the Zero Day Commission after a global cyberattack that has spread fear and misinformation to identify and capture the culprits. Zero Day stars Robert De Niro, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, McKinley Belcher III, and Angela Bassett.
Wednesday Season 2 (2025)
The kooky horror and the dark but hilarious Wednesday is returning with its much anticipated Season 2 in the upcoming year. Based on the characters created by Charles Addams, the gothic coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy thriller series was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. There’s not much known about the second season’s plot except that the series’ horror aspect is amped up. Filming for Season 2 began in May 2024, and it wrapped up in December 2024. Netflix has confirmed a 2025 release, and fans can expect the series to be available on the streaming giant in mid-2025.
You Season 5 (2025)
You is finally coming to an end with its upcoming fifth and final season in 2025. Based on the books by Caroline Kepnes, the psychological thriller series was created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. The Netflix series primarily follows the globetrotting stalker and murderer Joe Goldberg, who is finally back where he started, in New York City. You Season 5 was initially supposed to be released this year, but because of the delays caused by the writers’ and actors’ strikes, the final chapter of Joe Goldberg’s story will be available sometime to binge on Netflix in 2025.
One Piece Season 2 (2025)
One Piece’s fantastically adventurous and bloody world is set to return on Netflix with its second season in 2025. Based on the extremely popular Japanese manga by Eiichiro Oda, the swashbuckler fantasy action-adventure comedy-drama was created by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda. One Piece Season 2 will see the beginnings of the Alabasta Arc. The core cast will be returning to reprise their respective roles with Charithra Chandran, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Katey Sagal, Mark Harelik, Daniel Lasker, Camrus Johnson, Jazzara Jaslyn, David Dastmalchian, Werner Coetser, Brendan Murray, Clive Russell, Callum Kerr, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, Ty Keogh, Joe Manganiello, and Lera Abova joining the cast in the upcoming season. Production for One Piece Season 2 began in June 2024 and wrapped up in December 2024, but because of the extensive post-production, this series needs, it will be a while before we get the much-anticipated Season 2 of One Piece.
Squid Game Season 3 (2025)
The global phenomenon Squid Game got an unexpected third and final season renewal by Netflix in August. Squid Game Season 2 is all set to premiere on Netflix on December 26, 2024, and until Season 2 comes out, there are not many things announced for Season 3 except that both Season 2 and Season 3 were shot back-to-back from July 2024 to June 2024. Season 3 of Squid Game is expected to premiere on Netflix in mid-2025.
Nobody Wants This Season 2 (2025)
Nobody Wants This became one of the most significant breakout hits for Netflix in 2024, and the streaming giant quickly renewed it for a second season. Created by Erin Foster, the romantic comedy series follows the complex but hilarious relationship between an agnostic woman and a progressive rabbi. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody will return to reprise their lead alongside Justin Lupe and Timothy Simons. Season 2 of Nobody Wants This is all set to begin filming in early 2025, and both series creator Foster and star Brody have estimated that the fans will probably be able to see the second season in fall 2025.
Stranger Things Season 5 (2025)
Get ready to say goodbye to your favourite characters and the horrific world of the Upside Down, as Stranger Things is ending with its fifth and final season in 2025. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the sci-fi mystery horror drama series will conclude its story with an apocalyptic Season 5 with all our favourite characters’ fates hanging in the balance. Almost all of the cast from Season 4 is returning for the final season with a few additions: Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux. Stranger Things Season 5 began production in January 2024. They wrapped up in December 2024, but because of the extensive post-production needed to make this show, the final season of Stranger Things will probably drop on Netflix in late 2025.
