Hulu’s ‘Rosaline’: New Take on ‘Romeo & Juliet’ First Look Image Revealed

Disney+ day has brought us a slate of upcoming films of 20th Century Studios. One of the reveals includes the first image of the new take on the Romeo & Juliet film titled Rosaline has been revealed. The image includes the film star Kaitlyn Dever in period clothing.

The film is described as a fresh comedic twist on Shakespeare’s classic Romeo & Juliet, but the film will be told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline (Dever), who is also the ex-girlfriend of our male protagonist Romeo. Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) recently joined the film in an unidentified role alongside Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), Isabela Merced (Sweet Girl), and Christopher McDonald (Thelma & Louise). Rosaline is set to be directed by Karen Marine (Yes, God, Yes).

Rosaline has been in development for some time now as it was once attached to be produced at MGM and then it went back to the market, which allowed 20th Century Studios to come in and acquire the period project. Rosaline was written by the writers of the hit rom-com film (500) Days of Summer, Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.

Rosaline is set to premiere sometime in 2022. Check out the official synopsis and the first look image below:

A comedic retelling of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” told from the point of view of Romeo’s jilted ex, Rosaline, the woman Romeo first claims to love before he falls for Juliet.
