The upcoming month will see the return of some of Hulu’s best original shows including Only Murders in the Building and also new hit movies like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (August 2)

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a sci-fi action film directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by Josh Friedman. The 2024 film serves as a standalone sequel to the 2017 film War for the Planet of the Apes and it is the fourth entry into the Planet of the Apes reboot film series and the tenth film in the overall film franchise. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set years after the reign of Caesar and it follows the story of a young ape as he goes on a tumultuous journey that forces him to question his entire life and everything he knows including his views on humans. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes stars Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Owen Teague, Lydie Peckham, Peter Macon, Dichen Lachman, Sara Wiseman, Neil Sandilands, Eka Darville, Travis Jeffrey, and Karin Konoval starring in supporting roles.

Suitable Flesh (August 3)

Suitable Flesh is a mystery horror film written and directed by Joe Lynch. Based on the 1937 short story titled The Thing on the Doorstep by author H.P. Lovecraft, the 2023 film follows the story of Psychiatrist Elizabeth Derby as she grows more and more obsessed with a young patient suffering from extreme personality disorders but soon she finds herself facing something even more sinister. Suitable Flesh stars Heather Graham in the lead role with Judah Lewis, Barbara Crampton, Lynch, Johnathon Schaech, Bruce Davidson, Giovannie Cruz, and Chris McKenna starring in supporting roles.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (August 4)

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a live-action and animated musical fantasy comedy film co-directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon from a screenplay by William Davies. Based on the 1965 children’s book of the same name by author Bernard Waber, the 2022 film follows the story of the Primm family as they move to New York City. Josh, the young son finds it hard to fit in but he soon meets a singing crocodile named Lyle, who loves caviar and music. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile stars Javier Bardem, Winslow Fegley, Shawn Mendes, Constance Wu, Brett Gelman, Ben Palacios, Lyric Hurd, Scoot McNairy, Ego Nwodim, Taylor James, and Nora Dari.

Solar Opposite Season 5 (August 12)

Solar Opposite is finally returning for its much anticipated fifth season. The beloved adult sci-fi dark comedy series created by Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan will be returning for Season 5 this August after a big controversy involving Roiland, who was accused of sexual assault. Roiland’s voice of Korvo in the series has been replaced by Dan Stevens. Other returning cast members include Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone, Mary Mack, Sagan McMahan, Tiffany Haddish, Christina Hendricks, and Sterling K. Brown.

The Tyrant Season 1 (August 14)

Tyrant is a South Korean spy action-thriller series created by Park Hoon-jung. The upcoming Disney+ series revolves around The Tyrant Project started by the South Korean government. It is a bioweapon that enhances human abilities but when the US government heard about The Tyrant Project, they demanded the South Korean government shut down the project and hand over any samples that they have. During the covert handover, they get attacked and the samples get stolen. Now, four people are looking for the samples with their own agendas using a lot of violence. The Tyrant stars Cha Seung-won, Kim Seon-ho, Kim Kang-woo, and Jo Yoon-su in the lead roles with Moo Jin-sung, Kim Joo-hun, Lee Ki-young, Jang Young-nam, Justin John Harvey, Park Hyung-soo, and Kim Jo-jun starring in supporting roles.

Smile (August 15)

Smile is a psychological supernatural horror film written and directed by Parker Finn. Based on Finn’s 2020 short film titled Laura Hasn’t Slept, the 2022 film follows the story of Dr. Rose Cotter as she finds herself consumed with terror after witnessing a bizarre and traumatic incident involving a patient. She soon figures out that she must face trauma from her own past to save herself from a horrifying future. Smile stars Sosie Bacon in the lead role with Caitlin Stasey, Kyle Gallner, Kal Penn, Jessie T. Usher, Robin Weigert, Gillian Zinser, Judy Reyes, Rob Morgan, and Dora Kiss starring in supporting roles.

Immaculate (August 16)

Immaculate is a mystery horror film directed by Michal Mohan from a screenplay by Andrew Lobel. The 2024 film follows the story of Sister Cecilia, a novice who turned to Christianity at an early age as she joins a remote convent in the Italian countryside. Her quaint life in the picturesque small Italian town quickly turns into a nightmare when discovers that her new convent is hiding some sinister secrets. Immaculate stars Sydney Sweeney in the lead role with Benedetta Porcaroli, Álvaro Morte, Simona Tabasco, Giulia Heathfield Di Renzi, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli, Giampiero Judica, and Betty Pedrazzi starring in supporting roles.

Agent Recon (August 20)

Agent Recon is a sci-fi action thriller film written and directed by Derek Ting. The 2024 film follows a covert military task force as they track a mysterious energy disturbance at a secret base in New Mexico where they come face to face with an unknown being with immense strength and the ability to control a mindless army. Agent Recon stars Chuck Norris, Ting, Nikki Leigh, Marc Singer, Sylvia Kwan, Jason Scott Jenkins, Teo Briones, Christopher Showerman, and Matthew Ryan Burnett.

Reasonable Doubt Season 2 (August 22)

Reasonable Doubt is a legal drama series created by Raamla Mohamed. The Hulu series is returning for a much anticipated second season and it continues the story of Jax Stewart as she deals with the events of the first season and takes on a new case of one of her closest friends who killed her husband while also trying to sort out her personal life. Reasonable Doubt Season 2 stars Emayatzy Corinealdi in the lead role with McKinley Freeman, Morris Chestnut, Tim Jo, Angela Grovey, Thaddeus J. Only Murders in the Building Season 4 (August 27)

Only Murders in the Building is finally returning for its highly-anticipated fourth season with a new murder and a lot of cameos. The Hulu murder mystery comedy-drama series will see the trio back together still figuring out the shocking events of the Season 3 finale as they get an invite to Hollywood, who want to make out of their podcast.
