Peacock is bringing you a comedy and drama-packed August as it will air some of the best films of this year that you missed in the theaters and some great original movies and TV shows you will want to see. With an original comedy series starring NBA great Stephen Curry and also a beloved romantic action-comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, Peacock is adding so much content in the upcoming month. So, we picked out the 7 best movies and TV shows you should look out for in August 2024.

Mr. Throwback Season 1 (August 8)

Mr. Throwback is a mockumentary-style sports comedy series created by David Caspe, Matthew, and Daniel Libman. The upcoming Peacock series follows the story of Danny, a down-on-his-luck sports memorabilia dealer and former basketball player as he looks for redemption by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate, NBA legend Steph Curry. Mr. Throwback stars Adam Pally, Stephen Curry, and Ego Nwodim in the lead roles with Ayden Mayeri, Sammy Horowitz, Fatima Dominguez, Julian Sergi, and Kyle Gibson starring in supporting roles.

The Bikeriders (August 9)

The Bikeriders is a period crime drama film written and directed by Jeff Nichols. Based on the 1967 photo book of the same name by Danny Lyon, the 2024 film is set in 1965 and it follows the evolution of the Midwestern motorcycle club for a decade as it turns from being a gathering place for local outsiders to becoming a sinister gang. The Bikeriders stars Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, and Jodie Comer in the lead roles with Norman Reedus, Mike Faist, Tony Wallace, Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and Damon Herriman starring in supporting roles.

Renfield (August 9)

Renfield is an action horror comedy film directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley. Based on the characters from the 1897 classic novel Dracula by legendary author Bram Stoker, the 2023 film follows the story of Renfield as he goes on living a tortured life caring for his narcissistic master, Dracula. Until he decides to live and stop doing Dracula’s bidding for which he will have to truly leave the shadow of the Prince of Darkness behind. Renfield stars Nicholas Hoult in the lead role with Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Jenna Kanell starring in supporting roles.

Bel-Air Season 3 (August 15)

Bel-Air is a teen drama series developed by Morgan Cooper, Malcolm Spellman, TJ Brady, and Rasheed Newson. The Peacock series is a reimagining of the popular 1990s sitcom starring Will Smith titled The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air also based on Cooper’s short fan film of the same name and it follows the story of Will Smith, a West Philadelphia teen as he is sent to live with his uncle and his family to the gated mansions of Bel-Air, where he finds himself out of his element around all the rich people. Bel-Air stars Jabari Banks in the lead roles with Cassandra Freeman, Jimmy Akingbola, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Simon Joy Jones, Jordan L. Jones, Adrian Holmes, and April Parker Jones starring in supporting roles.

Homicide: Life on the Street (August 19)

Homicide: Life on the Street is a police procedural drama series created by Paul Attanasio. Based on the 1991 novel Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by author David Simon, the NBC series is set in the fictional Baltimore Police Department’s Homicide Unit and it follows the police officers as they come face to face some of the most brutal and complicated murders. Homicide: Life on the Street stars Andre Braugher, Kyle Secor, Reed Diamond, Richard Belzer, Isabella Hofmann, Clark Johnson, Toni Lewis, Melissa Leo, Jon Seda, Daniel Baldwin, Yaphet Kotto, and Callie Thorne starring.

The Killer (August 23)

The Killer is an action thriller film directed by John Woo from a screenplay co-written by Brian Helgeland, Josh Campbell, and Matt Stuecken. The upcoming Peacock film follows the story of Zee, a dangerous assassin who refuses to kill a young blind woman. After refusing to obey her handler’s orders she finds herself being hunted by her old colleagues and a relentless detective. The Killer stars Nathalie Emmanuel in the lead role with Omar Sy, Sam Worthington, Eric Cantona, Lupita Nyong’o, Diana Silvers, Tchéky Karyo, Hugo Diego Garcia, Grégory Montel, and Aurelia Agel starring in supporting roles.

The Fall Guy (August 30)

The Fall Guy is an action comedy film directed by David Leitch from a screenplay by Drew Pearce. Based on the 1980s ABC series of the same name created by Glen A. Larson, the 2024 film follows the story of Colt Seavers, a stuntman who returns to the industry after a life-changing accident to get back with the woman of his dreams, who is also the director on the new film he is working on, but he gets entangled in a murder mystery. The Fall Guy stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in the lead roles with Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Lee Majors, Winston Duke, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu, Zara Michaels, and Beth Champion starring in supporting roles.
