The award-winning US actor Jessica Walter has passed away at the age of 80.

Mostly known for her role in the TV sitcom Arrested Development as the icy matriarch Lucille Bluth and her role of Malory Archer in the hit animated series Archer.

According to her family and Deadline she died in her sleep at her home in New York.

Confirming the death, Walter’s daughter Brooke Bowman said;

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom, A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on-screen and off, While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

Walter has had many roles on TV shows and films like, starring opposite Clint Eastwood in his directorial debut, ‘Play Misty For Me’, which got her a Golden Globe nomination, and she also won an Emmy for starring as a detective in a TV show, ‘Amy Prentiss’ in the 1970s.

Tony Hale who played Walter’s son in the sitcom Arrested Development, tweeted;

The world lost another legend, just a day after the death of the legendary actor George Segal, and we will miss them both.
