Jason DeMarco, the Senior Vice President of Anime and Action Series for Warner Bros, has revealed that Daniel Radcliffe was almost involved in the Rick and Morty live-action clip that was released yesterday. The 14-second clip of Rick and Morty was released ahead of the Season 5 one-hour-long finale, and it starred Christopher Lloyd as Rick and Jaeden Martell as Morty, as Lloyd comes out of a green portal and Martell coming after him. Then Lloyd says “Morty, we’re home,” belching in the middle of the sentence and doing the best impression of drunk Rick.
DeMarco, posted on his Twitter congratulating the creative team behind the project, and he also shared his excitement about Lloyd joining the project and playing a character that was inspired by him. But, DeMarco also revealed he originally wanted Harry Potter famed actor Daniel Radcliffe to play Morty in the teaser because as DeMarco says “he’s a huge fan” of the animated series. Then he added that Radcliffe “(wisely) turned us down” and DeMarco reflected on his decision and wrote, “It was an idea that sounded good on paper but wouldn’t have worked at all.”
Rick and Morty Season 5 has ten episodes in total, and they are a part of the 70 episode order given by Adult Swim after they renewed the acclaimed series in 2018. Season 5 debuted on Adult Swim on June 20, with the weekly release of episodes every Sunday. But the creators are making fans wait for the season finale which is coming out on September 5 after taking a break on August 8.
