Sex and the City limited reboot series is coming to HBO Max, but it probably won’t feature Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones.
According to Deadline a new Sex and the City limited series is in the works to air on the new streaming platform, HBO Max.
The revival news comes many years after the series star Sarah Jessica Parker gave us the heartbreaking news that the third Sex and the City movie isn’t happening.
Sarah Jessica Parker said, “It’s over… we’re not doing it. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.“
The news couldn’t have come at a better with almost every classic series getting a revival like Dexter and Gossip Girl, the audience will have a lot to chew on and enjoy the nostalgia of seeing their favorite character again.
With the great news, there is also some bad news and that is we probably will not see Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones in the new series. When asked about it, she said on Women’s Prize of Fiction Podcast, “It was a lot of fun and I loved it, and being in a new territory is always exciting. I felt like we were. Walking away, even if it’s the only thing to do, you always feel, it’s a bit of shame, I think. The taste of shame and you have to let go of that. You don’t want to become that caged bird.“
But the fans will probably be really happy to see the rest of the three lead characters, Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, and Christin Davis as Charlotte York.
