HBO Max has just revealed some first-look images for its upcoming psychological thriller, The Girl Before. The four-episode limited series follows a woman who gets a great deal while buying a luxury home but she soon finds out that low-cost real estate comes at a much bigger price. The Girl Before stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Loki) in the lead role, and it also stars David Oyelowo, Jessica Plummer, and Ben Hardy.
The limited series is based on the worldwide best-selling 2016 novel by JP Delaney, which has sold over a million copies since its debut. The series is written by Delaney himself with screenwriter Marissa Lestrade (Deep State) to adapt the story.
Emmy-nominated Lisa Brühlmann (Killing Eve, Servant) directed the series and it will be available in the U.S. on Warner Bros. streaming service HBO Max and in the UK the series will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. THE GIRL BEFORE tells the story of Jane (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who gets the chance to move into a beautiful, ultra-minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect (David Oyelowo). There’s just one catch: the occupants must abide by his list of exacting rules. Jane starts to feel the house changing her in unexpected ways, but when she makes the shocking discovery about her predecessor, Emma (Jessica Plummer), she’s forced to confront unnerving similarities.
