Netflix has sadly canceled Noah Centineo‘s underrated spy action comedy-drama series The Recruit after Season 2. Created by Alexi Hawley, the Netflix original series was canceled nearly six weeks after the premiere of The Recruit Season 2 at the end of January.

The news of the cancelation was first revealed by Centineo’s co-star Colton Dunn on social media, after which Netflix confirmed the cancelation.

The Recruit follows Owen Hendricks (Centineo), a CIA lawyer who gets embroiled in an international espionage situation after a dangerous and seductive woman blackmails the agency to get her out of jail, or she will reveal the CIA’s dirty secrets.

The Netflix series also stars Laura Haddock, Aarti Mann, Fivel Stewart, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Kristian Bruun, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Kaylah Zander, Maddie Hasson, Angel Parker, Teo Yoo, and Nathan Fillion.

The Recruit always felt a little of an underdog as both of its seasons’ release dates coincided with Netflix’s extremely popular series The Night Agent, which is another spy series. While not many people have watched The Recruit, those who have watched it seem to love it. So, it is sad to say goodbye to a series with so much potential.

The Recruit Seasons 1 & 2 are available on Netflix right now.
