Batman is one of those superheroes that you can never get bored with, and even if you are not getting the main character himself, his villains and allies are also very entertaining to watch. That’s why in this article, we will discuss all of the upcoming Batman projects, including the upcoming Joker sequel and Matt Reeves‘ The Batman spin-off series The Penguin. We have divided all the titles into two parts: live-action and animated. While most of the fans are only privy to the live-action Batman films, the hardcore fans have been seeing much more of the Dark Knight in DC’s animated universe. So, check out all of the upcoming Batman movies and TV shows below.
Live-Action
The Penguin (September 8, 2024)
The Penguin is an upcoming Matt Reeves’ The Batman spin-off limited series created by Lauren LeFranc. The Max crime drama series will follow the story of Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, aka Penguin, as he rises to power in the criminal underworld of Gotham City after the death of Carmine Falcone’s death, but in his quest for power, Penguin will have to face multiple foes including his former boss’s daughter Sofia Falcone. The Penguin stars Colin Farrell in the lead role with Cristin Milioti, Rehnzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, Theo Rossi, and Carmen Ejogo starring in supporting roles.
Joker: Folie à Deux (October 4, 2024)
Joker: Folie à Deux is a sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker. Directed by Phillips from a screenplay co-written by Scott Silver and Phillips, the musical romance psychological thriller film will continue the story of Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, as he is incarcerated in Arkham State Hospital after murdering Murray Franklin live on television. In the hospital, he meets Harleen Quinzel, with whom he falls madly in love, while a movement to free the Clown Prince of Crime grows in Gotham City. Joker: Folie à Deux stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in the lead roles, with Zazie Beetz, Leigh Gill, and Sharon Washington starring in supporting roles.
The Batman: Part II (October 2, 2026)
In short, we know very little about the upcoming Matt Reeves sequel to The Batman. The only confirmation we have besides the release date is that Robert Pattinson will be returning to reprise the role of the Dark Knight, and while almost all of the main cast could return for the sequel, including Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Paul Dano, Barry Keoghan, and Andy Serkis, but we still don’t have any confirmation. The Batman: Part II will most probably continue the story of Bruce Wayne, aka the Batman, as he finds his way of becoming a hero, and he could face multiple foes in the sequel, including the Riddler and the Joker, which were set up in the first film.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold (TBA)
Batman: The Brave and the Bold will introduce the Batman family to James Gunn’s DC Universe. While we know little to nothing about the upcoming superhero film, James Gunn has confirmed it is a part of DCU’s Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, and the film is inspired by writer Grant Morrison and artist Any Kubert’s 2006 comics book “Batman and Son” in which Bruce Wayne discovers that he has a son named Damian Wayne with Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter Talia al Ghul. Batman: The Brave and the Bold will see the team up of father Bruce Wayne and son Damian Wayne as Batman and Robin. No cast, release date, or production update has been announced yet for the film, but we know that The Flash’s director, Andy Muschietti, is attached to it.

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three (July 16, 2024)
Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths is returning for Part Three this July. Directed by Jeff Wamester from a screenplay co-written by James Krieg, George Pérez, and Marv Wolfman, the epic animated superhero film will see Justice League facing their most evil foe yet with the help of past heroes from multiple universes. Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three voice cast includes Jensen Ackles, Darren Criss, Aldis Hodge, Meg Donnelly, Stana Katic, Corey Stoll, Gideon Aldon, Ike Amadi, Geoffrey Arend, Troy Baker, Biran Bloom, Alexandra Daddario, Matt Boomer, Ashly Burch, Zach Callison, Kevin Conroy, Brett Dalton, John DiMaggio, Keith Ferguson, Ato Essandoh, and Mark Hamill.
Batman: Caped Crusader (August 1, 2024)
Batman: Caped Crusader is an upcoming Batman animated series executive-produced by Matt Reeves and J.J. Abrams. The Prime Video series works as a dark reimagining of the origins of the Dark Knight. As corruption and crime terrorize the citizens of Gotham, Bruce Wayne, a wealthy socialite, fights to protect the people of the city dressed in a bat suit. Batman: Caped Crusader is based on the DC Comics characters created by Bob Kane and Bruce Timm, and the ten-episode first season come out on Prime Video all at once. Batman: Caped Crusader voice cast includes Hamish Linklater, Christina Ricci, Jamie Chung, Diedrich Bader, Minnie Driver, and Mckenna Grace.
Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires (2024)
Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires is an upcoming animated action-adventure Batman film directed by Juan Jose Meza-Leon from a screenplay co-written by Ernie Altbacker, Alfredo Mendoza, and Juan Jose Meza-Leon. The animated film is set in the time of the Aztec Empire, where we follow the story of Yohualli Coatl, a young boy who suffers the loss of his father at the hands of the Spanish Conquistadors. Then, he trains at the temple of Tzinacan, the bat god, to save his people from the Spaniard invasion and avenge his father. Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires voice cast includes Horacio García Rojas, Omar Chaparro, and Álvaro Morte.
Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League (TBA)
Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League is an upcoming American-Japanese anime film directed by Junpei Mizusaki and Kamikaze Douga from a screenplay by Kazuki Nakashima. The recently announced film will serve as a sequel to the 2018 film Batman Ninja, and while nothing has been announced about the film, including its plot, release date, and voice cast, there was an announcement clip released during the Anime Expo 2024.
