The much anticipated standalone sequel to the 1996 Jan de Bont film Twister is finally here and seems to be a hit among the audience and the critics. Directed by Academy Award Nominee Lee Isaac Chung from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith, Twisters has all the destruction, mayhem, and cool characters you want in a film like this.
Twisters follows the story of Kate, a former storm chaser, who is lured back into the fields for one last time by her friend, Javi, to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. As she begins working with Javi, Kate meets Tyler Owens, a charming but reckless social media superstar who built his fanbase by chasing storms. As storm season gets more dangerous, Kate, Tyler, and the people in their team find themselves fighting against a storm to survive.
Twisters – Streaming & VOD Release Date (Where & When to Watch It?)
Twisters has performed exceptionally at the domestic box office with a $70 million plus projected opening domestically on a production budget of around $155 million. While Twisters had a great opening weekend the release of the mega-hit Deadpool & Wolverine, slowed its box office earnings down a bit, and because of Twisters’ lack of international appeal, the disaster film has only been able to earn $310.5 million globally with $222 million coming from the domestic theaters.
If you are still adamant about watching the film at home then you are in luck as the film was recently released digitally on several VOD platforms including Prime Video, Google Play Movies & TV Shows, and Apple TV. While Twisters is available for purchase there is still no streaming release date in sight for the disaster film as it continues to rake in millions at the domestic box office.
